Flowers on the head table

This is from a wedding we shot at the Samoset Resort back in 2008, which was really the peak of wedding spending in my career. While this is a pleasing tablescape, it's not here because I love this image so much, but because I know something crazy about this wedding.

The florist was a friend of mine, and she confessed that the couple had decided to spend over $30,000 on orchid petals for the event. They lined the aisle of the ceremony, filled the vases on the tables, and were scattered throughout the cocktail tables. And yes, they were very pretty.

But! Today, all that remains of that investment are the images we captured that show them.

Flowers are important, but it's the photographs that survive past the end of the day.
