Senior at Fort Williams
At every senior photo shoot I shoot a frame or two that is probably just for me, and a little too artistic for the family I'm working with. And when we show our clients 50 unique images, they're happy to have 4 or 5 they can eliminate from their assortment.
There's a few things I like about this shot of Megan that won't be immediately apparent to you. First, Megan's from Ohio, and she and her sister came (in different years) to Maine to have me create their senior portraits. I love writing that. Don't judge me, you would too.
Second, I love the framing of this composition. The outer window frames the inner window, which frames Megan as well. Really cool, right? And then there's the camera tilt (known in photos and film as 'going Dutch', and the reason is long and only interesting to me, I've learned). This makes the viewer a little unsettled, and (to me) makes the portrait more visually interesting.
As I said, these are usually just for me. But Megan's mom ordered this one as well, because 'there's just nothing like this in Ohio'. That's high praise right there.
