The Leap

Lucia and I photograph more dance pictures than other photographers, probably because we just love parties.

For us, the reception is what the whole day is building towards, and we like to be right in the middle of it.

This picture, taken at the Wentworth by the Sea, represents a little good fortune on my part. I saw the bride's cousin starting to do a few moves that made me think he might jump, and I sat on the floor to get this angle. I changed to an ultra-wide lens, confirmed my room lighting, and waited.

And I was lucky enough to capture not just the cousin in the air, but the bride and groom's expression of disbelief.
