A Unique Beginning: Allyson’s Pre-Wedding Dress Shoot
Before slipping into her breathtaking wedding gown, Alec and Allyson did a pre-wedding photo shoot with Lucia and I with Allyson in a second white dress, and let me tell you, she looked radiant. This was such a fun way to kick off the day, and it set the tone for what was to come—personal, meaningful moments that were so uniquely Alec and Allyson. We went out to the pool, down into the bar, and around the lobby of the Colony Hotel.
Getting Ready – The Wedding Dress
The First Look: Pure Emotion
The couple chose to have their first look overlooking the ceremony site, and wow, what a moment. With the ocean as their backdrop and the sun shining warmly (a rare treat for a fall day in New England), Alec’s reaction to seeing Allyson was everything. Tears, smiles, and pure love—it was one of those moments you wish you could bottle up forever.

Before the ceremony, we wandered through the hotel for photos, capturing its timeless elegance. The ceremony took place on the Colony Hotel’s back lawn, with the waves gently lapping in the background. It was intimate, emotional, and filled with so much joy. The warm, sunny weather added an extra layer of magic to the already picturesque setting. It’s no wonder the Colony Hotel is one of the most sought-after Southern Maine wedding venues.
The Reception: A Party to Remember
The ballroom was the perfect setting for Alec and Allyson’s celebration. With gorgeous floral arrangements by Downeast Flowers and music by DJ Danny T from City Event Group, the energy was electric. From heartfelt toasts to an unforgettable dance party, the night was a true reflection of the couple’s fun and loving personalities.
Sunset Magic
We couldn’t end the day without sneaking out for sunset photos. With the beach and ocean in the background, Alec and Allyson shared quiet, intimate moments as the sun dipped below the horizon. Those silhouette shots? Pure magic. Moments like these are why I love being a Maine photographer—the natural beauty here is unbeatable.
End of Night – A Champagne Spray
This is a really fun thing to do after the couple has been dancing for a couple of hours. We take them outside with 2 bottles of champagne, and let them spray them in celebration. The photos only capture the drops of water (well, champagne) if there’s a light behind the couple, so Lucia is kneeling down behind them holding a flash.
