The Hitching Post is a wedding barn in Dayton, ME, that has some really gorgeous land around it. This was our first wedding there, and it was a beautiful introduction to this venue. If you’re planning a rustic wedding, we highly recommend you visit the Hitching Post in Dayton.
Logan and Nick got ready at the Lincoln Hotel in Saco, a very swanky hotel in a former mill building. They didn’t see each other before the wedding (so no couple’s pictures at the Lincoln), but Nick’s face at the ceremony was priceless. Cynthia, the officiant, had him turned around until Logan was right at the ceremony site, so he really had a first look at her.
Fausto and his team from Blue Elephant did a great job with the planning and the food; Maine Event Design and Decor handled flowers and lighting, and Chris Bouchard rocked the party. Full vendor list at the bottom.
I hope you like the pictures from Saco’s Lincoln Hotel and of the Barn Wedding at the Hitching Post!
The Lincoln Hotel
The Lincoln – A swanky hotel in an old mill building. The Lincoln has a lot of art on the walls (some that’s not Nick), and every room is unique. It’s a great place for your wedding guests to stay!Pocket Square Flowers! These literally slide into the jacket pocket, and never droop or fall like pinned boutenieres. This mural (and purple lit room) is in the basement of the hotel, and the mural depicts the history of the Lincoln.Logan’s dress hanging in the barn doors at the Hitching Post. My wife (and co-photographer) Lucia is kneeling behind the dress holding it out.The best trend for photographers in the last decade has been the popularity of matching robes for bridesmaids! They make getting-ready pictures so much better.Logan and her parents in the LincolnIn the Lincoln Hotel lobby
At the Hitching Post
Logan and her dad – Lucia is on the right, taking the next picture.Nick sees Logan at the ceremony for first timeAn aunt doing a reading – I love this shot of her between the bride and groom’s heads to give you their perspective!Do you see the wedding officiant? Neither do I – she jumped out of the way as soon as the ceremony was concluded. That’s how it should be done!We love an ‘end of the aisle’ photograph showing all your guests.
Wedding Portraits
Look how well color coordinated this family portrait is! The bride’s mom is wearing the same blush pink that is in her bouquet, and her dad is wearing a suit that matches the men, and a bow tie to match his wife. Meanwhile, the bride’s sister and brother have the wedding colors (they were in the party). Logan and Nick with the bridesmaidsLogan and Nick definitely practiced putting their hands like that!Barn weddings and old trucks – its a real and also weird connection.
The Wedding Barn
The First DanceChris Bouchard was the DJ, and he lit the barn up like a dance club. We added some colored-light flash to enhance the photo.Blue Elephant Events and Catering (who planned and catered the wedding) brought these letters for the dance floor.Logan and Nick wrote the Love letters with sparklers in this long exposure imageThis end of night shot really shows off the lighting at the Hitching Post from Maine Event Design and Decor, and the cool ambiance we captured by under exposing the scene, but lighting just the couple.
