The Union Bluff Meeting House

Our reception (and ceremony) was at the Union Bluff Meeting House. We chose the location (York) because I spent my summers there as a child, teenager and young adult. When JT and I met, we vacationed there at my parent’s place almost every weekend of every summer! JT shared my love of Maine, and in particular, York, ME. When we visited the Union Bluff Meeting House, we fell in love! It was perfect-it overlooked the ocean and Short Sands Beach and was located in downtown York. We successfully convinced our families that this was the perfect place for us to get married! Marissa”

Getting Ready

 My only sister and my closest friend, Lisa Felci Jimenez was my maid of honor.  The rest of my bridal party was made up of JT’s older sisters, Andria Burroso and Julie Pasquarello; my close friend and co-teacher Heather Pitt; and my junior bridesmaid (our niece) Mia Burroso. Our flower girls were our nieces Tessa Burroso and Amara Pechilis. !  Marissa”

I chose a strapless, fit and flare, light and “beachy” form-fitting gown! A bow (my favorite embellishment and signature trademark for my clothing/accessories/shoes) adorned my gown, with just a little bling (a small brooch) in the middle of the bow. I wore a matching ivory flower in my hair, and long, cascading earrings. I wore my sand dollar bracelet that my Auntie Janet gave to me as a gift and it meant so much to me and her to have it on my wrist on my special day! Marissa”

The Groom

JT wore a handsome khaki suit, a white button down shirt and a tie that identically matched the color of the bridesmaid dresses “mermaid green/blue” Marissa”

 My best man was Danny Burroso. He is my brother-in-law, married to my oldest sister, Andria.  I chose an additional four of my closest friends that I wanted to be a part of my special day. They ranged from Louie DePasquale and Shawn Ivey, two of my friends from childhood, to my coworker and fellow Cambridge firefighter Matt McDonald, and my sister’s boyfriend Jason Pechilis. JT”

The Ceremony

Our ceremony was on the Union Bluff lawn overlooking Short Sands beach. We could not have been blessed with better weather! We chose our ceremony location because the ocean is so meaningful to JT and I. It is a place of solace for us. Although we had previously wanted to get married in a church, we felt that it was just as sacred on that Oceanside lawn, and that God was present. Marissa”

Lucia and Will kept us laughing the entire time-they really calmed down our wedding jitters and nerves!!!  We definitely felt that we could be ourselves working with Focus Photography! The groomsmen all thought Will was hilarious. The bridesmaids and wedding party appreciated Lucia’s insight. Lucia and Will could not have been more accommodating and helpful! – Marissa & JT”

Susan Marceau at The Union Bluff Meeting House could not have been more helpful and accommodating. She was always there for us throughout the entire wedding planning process if we had any questions or concerns. Susan Marceau was is the main reason our wedding went so smoothly! Both Danny and Lisa’s toasts brought JT and I to tears. Danny kept us laughing but at the same time, was sentimental-he spoke of what a great guy JT is and how he has inherited those positive traits and qualities from his father. My sister Lisa incorporated a spectacular slideshow of our childhood pictures into her speech. Her speech was beautiful and I was completely surprised when I, along with all of our guests viewed pictures of me throughout the stages of my life-while incorporating how meaningful York, ME and the beach in general has been to me my entire life. – Marissa & JT”

Our cake and Italian cookies were made by Simply Elegant Cakes by MaryAnn in Elliot, ME ! JT and I agreed that we have never tasted a cake so delicious before! I absolutely adored how she decorated it and incorporated all of our ideas, while providing us with some of her insight. She is extremely talented and I most definitely would recommend her cakes and treats! Marissa”
