The Winter Wedding of Susan and Cameron

The Winter Wedding of Susan and Cameron

On the coldest day of the year, as the sun was dipping below the horizon, and the groom and I both stood shivering beneath wool coats, the most persevering bride I ever worked with asked me if we could spend a little more time outside taking pictures on the piers.  Thirty degrees below freezing, with the wind whipping off the ocean, and it was the lady in the dress who wanted to stay outside. I’ve never had more respect for how tough Canadians are.  And then the sky got even more beautiful, and the images were stunning, and when it was completely dark, we joined their guests, who were already inside the restaurant at Pier 77, and celebrated Cameron and Susan’s wedding.

And that’s how the wedding day ended.  It started as a normal Tuesday – that’s right, a Tuesday.  In between Christmas and New Year’s, Cameron and Susan got married on a Tuesday.  I recommend it, I really do.  There were no other events scheduled at the church right after the ceremony; no waiting for the limos to drop off the bridal party before them, and probably not one wedding vendor was already booked on their chosen date.  There’s just one catch – your family and friends have to be cool enough to party on a Tuesday.  For Susan and Cameron, this wasn’t a problem.

I want to show you a few of my favorite images from this beautiful wedding.  Let’s start at the Cape Arundel Inn, where Cameron was being entertained by his brother Gaylen (the best man) and his father Reverend Price (who officiated the marriage).

Now to the Bride.  Susan was assisted by her sister (and Maid of Honor) Keila.

Here’s the moment when Cameron first saw Susan in her gown.

Okay, you probably followed along with the pictorial narrative, but here are a few more details.  It was a beautiful and reverent service, but a few lighter moments of entertainment provided by Cameron’s nephew.  Cameron’s father performed the ceremony, and Susan’s sister sang the sweetest version of Ave Maria ever heard.

The images below are a few of the romantics of Susan and Cameron, and a little taste of the fun at their reception.
