What Seniors Should Wear
My favorite part about Mandie and her horse is not their relationship, but the juxtaposition of a prom dress at a horse barn!

What seniors should wear for their portraits
We tell seniors to bring 3 – 6 outfits to a location, and we’ll choose the best. But where to start?

We have a whole guide on clothing for seniors, but we can simplify what you should help your student find into a handful of Do’s, and a couple of Don’ts.
Do:
- Bring something you’d wear to a dance.
- Bring something you’d wear to impress a date (you may not date, but you know what they are).
- Bring something you’d wear on a cold fall day (sweaters are always good).
- Bring something sporty that’s comfortable to move around in (this is open for interpretation).
- Bring your favorite jeans, and your new jeans.
- Dress head to toe. This is true for everybody, every gender, and every session.
- Bring something that doesn’t belong. A suit at the beach – amazing. A prom dress in downtown Portland – incredible.
- Layer – a jean jacket can be thrown over anything for an additional look.
- Accessorize – hats, scarves, and belts! Maybe not on the scarves for guys, but still bring your favorite teams’ caps.
Don’t:
- Bring more than one pair of shorts. Guy or gal, your knees only need to make one appearance.
- Wear shirts with branding splashed across them.
- Only wear short sleeves or tanks. It doesn’t matter how good your arms look, or how tan you are, several long sleeve outfits are a must.
- Wear white athletic socks with black shoes. This is a weekly issue.
- Don’t bring only patterns. Solids look amazing in pictures; plaid can be tough.
- Don’t wait until the day of your shoot to pull your outfits together!
Parents, if there’s something you want your senior to wear but they’re fighting it, just bring it – Will is great at convincing students to take a chance on something, and have fun while they’re doing it.

What Erica said:
I couldn’t recommend anyone more than Will and Lucia at Focus Photography!
“When I had my senior pictures done, I was very unsure of myself, and the pictures Will took helped me see myself differently.”
“When I wanted to start modeling after college, they were the photographers I trusted to help create my portfolio and launch my career.”
“And then my brother went there for his senior pictures. And then my family used them to create family pictures of us. And when anyone I know needs pictures, they’re the photographers I recommend.”
“From the minute we arrived for the photo shoot, until we picked up our order, we were treated with excellent service. We were comfortable with our whole experience with you.”
