The Masonic Temple in Portland, Maine is one of the oldest lodges in the country. This grand building has both Masonic, Scottish Rite, and York Rite rooms, and weddings are held in the Armory room (which has wooden lockers on all the walls, and is a large ballroom otherwise).
Blue Elephant Catering runs the events at the Portland Masonic, and they decorate the Armory with LED candles in alternate lockers so that the room has a warm, romantic glow.
This shot of Karli and Mickey’s first dance was taken from outside of the Armory, and the bride and groom are lit by flashes I’ve angled in on them from the corners of the room to make them the focus of attention. For this black and white wedding image, I’ve also under-exposed the room a little to darken it. I shot the image below in the exact opposite direction, from the head table back towards these doors, and you can see the lockers being lit by my flashes.
