Kim and Joe’s Wedding at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine
On Saturday, June 18th, Kim and Joe were gifted the kind of day you hope for when planning a destination wedding in Maine — a little dramatic, totally memorable, and ultimately picture-perfect. Though the morning started with storms, Kim was determined to have her ceremony outside. And thanks to a little luck (and possibly a secret weather switch flipped by Will Clayton of the Samoset), the skies cleared in time for a stunning coastal ceremony by the water.
Their ceremony took place just steps from the edge of Penobscot Bay, with sunlight streaming through the clouds as if on cue. Kim wore a beautiful white gown with bold red shoes, a detail that popped against the seaside backdrop and showed off her personality. It was the kind of afternoon that reminds you why wedding photography at the Samoset Resort is always magical — the mix of dramatic skies, ocean air, and joy in every direction makes for unforgettable images.
After guests were ushered inside for dinner, the skies lit up again — this time with a quick, theatrical lightning storm. As if that wasn’t enough, the evening ended with a rainbow visible through the ballroom windows, perfectly timed to appear just as the dance floor filled up. You can’t plan that kind of moment, but when it happens? It’s pure wedding-day magic.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that combines Maine’s coastal charm with unexpected beauty, Kim and Joe’s day at the Samoset Resort in Rockport is a perfect example of what’s possible. And if you need a photographer who can capture both the big moments and the wild, wonderful surprises — I’d love to help.
Thanks for looking – Will and Lucia
