The Samoset Wedding of Amy and Ryan
A Stunning Wedding at Samoset Resort in Rockport, ME
There’s something magical about weddings at Samoset Resort, and Amy and Ryan’s special day was no exception. Nestled in Rockport, Maine, the resort’s breathtaking views of Penobscot Bay set the perfect stage for a celebration filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
From the moment Amy started her morning preparations in the cozy Wind Drift cabin to their heartfelt ceremony on the golf course overlooking the bay, every detail reflected the couple’s unique love story. Shoutout to the amazing vendors who brought this day to life: Seasons Downeast created the most exquisite floral arrangements, Heath Commeau kept the energy high as the DJ, and Sweet Sensation delighted everyone with their delectable cake.

Morning Preparations at the Wind Drift Cabin
Amy began her wedding day in the serene Wind Drift cabin, surrounded by her closest friends and family. The cabin’s rustic charm was the perfect backdrop for her bridal glow. Meanwhile, Ryan prepared for the day with equal excitement, eagerly anticipating their first look.

Tell me a little about your dress and accessories. By the way, I loved the wooden hangers you had made with your wedding date on them.
“ My dress was a lace, ivory & champagne Oleg Cassini from David’s Bridal and I wore navy blue heels to match my bridesmaids dresses. My Veil was a gift from Ryan’s mother and was a beautiful white lace with champagne beading.”
The navy heels were a good touch, you looked great. Who did your hair – it looked beautiful?
“ Thank you! My hair was done by Mallory King, co-owner of Elizabeth’s Cuts & Styles in Rockport, Maine.”
The Bride

Did you wear any special jewelry?
“ I did! My earrings were a 5th anniversary present from Ryan and they were these beautiful White pearls. I wore a Kate Spade gold “bride” bangle bracelet that was a gift from my Maid of Honor and best friend Allie. My engagement ring is a stellar white gold diamond sculptural ring, and my wedding band was from GM Pollack & Sons and is a white gold curved diamond band.”
The Groom

Ryan wore his uniform and a lot of fancy ribbons.
“Yes, Ryan is in the US Army so he wore his US Army Class A dress blues and looked so handsome in them. His wedding ring was also something very special because it was a tungsten carbide ring handmade by his brother-in-law Mike.”
First Look on the Hilltop
The first look was one of the most emotional moments of the day. On a hilltop overlooking the expansive Penobscot Bay, Amy and Ryan saw each other for the first time as bride and groom. The love and joy in their eyes were contagious, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect.

Talk a little about yourselves, what do you do, and how did you meet?
“ I work in hotel revenue management here at the Samoset and Ryan is an EMT and is in the US Army. I chose you guys as my wedding photographer because I’ve seen so many photographers that work here at the Samoset, and like your personalities and photo styles the best. We have been together for about eight and a half years and first met when we worked at the same grocery store in High School!”

And when Ryan asked you to marry him, how did the proposal go?
“ We spent the Fourth of July with our family watching fireworks, and spent the evening staring up at the stars on the beach. Which happened to be a closed National Park. It was so romantic with the stars and the water and Ryan surprised me and got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. Of course I said yes! While we were leaving, Ryan backed up into a ditch and we were stuck there until 2am when the local sheriff and tow truck came to help. Needless to say it was a story we will never forget.”
The Bridal Party and Family

Waterside Ceremony on the Samoset Golf Course
The ceremony took place waterside on the Samoset Golf Course. With panoramic views of the bay and a gentle ocean breeze, the setting was both romantic and serene. Amy and Ryan exchanged vows surrounded by their loved ones, creating a moment that will be cherished forever.

Exploring the Grounds for Wedding Photography
After the ceremony, we explored the stunning grounds of Samoset Resort for wedding photos. From lush greenery to picturesque waterfront views, every corner offered a unique backdrop. Amy and Ryan’s natural chemistry shone through, making my job as a Maine wedding photographer an absolute joy.

The First Dance
Celebrating at the Samoset Resort Reception
The reception was a lively and joyous affair, hosted in one of Samoset Resort’s elegant spaces. The couple’s first dance, heartfelt toasts, and vibrant dance floor energy made for unforgettable memories. Heath Commeau’s DJ skills kept the party going, and Sweet Sensation’s cake was as delightful to the taste as it was to the eyes.

So, tell me about the photography. A lot of people tell me they think the couples Lucia and I work with must all love being photographed because they seem relaxed in the images. Did the romantic session help?
“ It felt very awkward initially (at the romantic session) because like most people we are not really in front of the camera that often. But on our wedding day it was a breeze. We just had a lot of fun having our pictures taken and Focus Photography gave us very smooth and detailed directions that helped us to feel comfortable.”
